PHOENIX, Ariz. – Junior Kameryn Basye carded a team-best score of 1-over-par 73 to pace the Montana State golf team during the final round of the GCU Invitational on Tuesday, March 2, at Grand Canyon University Golf Course.
Basye, who bogeyed her opening hole of the day, tallied three birdies and three bogeys over her next 17 holes to finish in a tie for 27th in the individual standings. She fired a 54-hole tournament score of 10-over 226 to pace the Bobcats during the two-day event.
Hannah Rosanova, Sofia Rodriguez Todd and Annika Danenhauer figured into the scoring lineup for the third straight round on Tuesday. Rosanova (80), Danenhauer (84) and Rodriguez Todd (85) all factored into MSU's final round 322. Rosanova finished in a tie for 66th with a tournament score of 239, Rodriguez Todd tied for 69th by totaling 241 strokes and Danenhauer tied for 75th by recording a 244. Hailey Oster closed out the Bobcats' appearance by carding a 267 over three rounds.
Montana State finished 15th in the team standings by carding a 950. Host Grand Canyon earned first place with an 866. Southern Utah's Chanikan Yongyuan claimed medalist honors by firing a 5-under 211.
"I'm grateful we had nice weather and got out on the golf course for this first tournament of the spring," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said." Overall, we were inconsistent and just rusty with shots that we can't practice inside. We will keep working on the things we can and when we have a chance to be outside in a few weeks, we'll really focus on that and use our time wisely.
"Kameryn played well and I'm proud of her for finishing strong."
Montana State golf's next appearance will take place from April 5-6 when the Bobcats participate in the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in Maricopa, Ariz.
