Following a nine-day hiatus, the Montana State women’s basketball team returns to the hardwood when it hosts Saint Mary’s on Monday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in Worthington Arena.

The mark ranks No. 17 in the nation. Evansville leads the country averaging 21.5 per contest...freshman Marah Dykstra posted her first double-digit scoring game as a Bobcats with 16 points at Wyoming. For the game, the product of Vancouver, B.C. shot six-of-eight from the field, two-of-two from beyond the arc and two-of-two at the line...Darian White is just five rebounds away from becoming the first MSU women's player in history to reach 1,300 points, 500 rebounds, 300 assists and 200 steals...White is also third on MSU's all-time career free throws made list with 403. Cass Bauer and Kathleen McLaughlin have 477 FTs.
THE SCOUTING REPORT: Saint Mary's is 5-3 overall and plays at Boise State on Dec. 10, before making the trip to Bozeman for Monday night's contest. The Gaels have posted victories over future Bobcat opponent Nevada (67-58), Cal Baptist, Niagara, San Jose State, and UC Davis. Losses have come against Rice, Cal, and Kansas. Saint Mary's is led by Ali Bamberger and Taycee Wedin. The duo average 16.3 and 12.4 points per game, respectively. Bamberger, a 6-3 junior forward from Walnut Creek, Calif., has missed the last two games for the Gaels with an ankle injury. She pulled down a season-high 17 rebounds in SMC's season-opener against Nevada. Wedin, a 5-9 grad guard from Milwaukie, Ore., has been in double-figure scoring on six occasions this year, including a season-high 21 points against Cal Baptist. SMC is under the direction of Paul Thomas, who is in his 17th year.
DARIAN DOING DARIAN THINGS: Darian White, the preseason All-Big Sky Conference MVP selection, leads the Bobcats in scoring (12.6 ppg), rebounding (6.3), assists (30), and free throws made (43). She has been in double figure scoring in six games, including a season-high 20 points in MSU's loss to Abilene Christian. In the Bobcats' victory over South Dakota State, she posted her usual stat line of 16 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and two steals. On the season, she is shooting 40.5% from the field. White saw her free throw shooting percentage rise to 70.5% after a 10-of-12 effort from the stripe against SDSU. Last season, White notched a career-high 29 points at Weber State on Dec. 30. She had a streak of 33 consecutive games in double digit scoring snapped in MSU's NCAA First-Round tournament game at No. 2 Stanford. The reigning two-time Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Year pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds against Montana State Billings on Dec. 9, 2021. White has pulled down a season-best 10 rebounds at San Jose State on Nov. 22, 2022. Looking at the MSU Record Book, White has broken into several career MSU Top 10 statistical categories, including No. 3 in free throws made (405). She joins Kathleen McLaughlin Howard and Cass Bauer Bilodeau as the only MSU players to record over 400 free throw makes in a career. White is also listed No. 4 in steals (235), No. 7 in assists (368), No. 9 in points (1,387) and No. 26 in rebounding with 495 boards. Against Wyoming on Dec. 2, White recorded 8 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

Since the 2012-13 season, Montana State has gone an impressive 107-31 (77.5%) overall and 72-22 (76.6%) in Big Sky Conference play on its home court. During that span - from the start of the 2015-16 Big Sky season to the beginning of the 2017-18 league play- MSU rattled off a 19-game home court win streak in Big Sky action. Overall, in her 18 seasons at Montana State, Binford is 154-71 (68.4%) and 102-47 (68.5%) in Big Sky play in Worthington Arena.
