Two new freshmen and a highly-ranked redshirt boost MSU's talent level
BOZEMAN, Mont. (June 13, 2025) – Montana State added talent to its 2025-26 men's tennis roster Friday, when head coach Mateus Ceolin announced the signings of David Ismanescu and Elijah Calaquian and the addition of Oumar Diallo.
Originally from Princeton, New Jersey, Calaquian prepped at the internationally-renowned tennis program of ICL Academy in Mallorca, Spain. He posted a standout performance at the ITF J30 tournament in Makati City, capturing both singles and doubles titles. A four star recruit, his highest U.S. national ranking is 105 and his career high UTR is 11.11.
Ismanescu hails from Toronto and graduated from Pensacola (Florida) Christian Academy with a perfect 4.0 unweighted GPA and National Honor Society membership. He ranked among the top 80 U18 players in Canada and consistently reached semifinals and finals in multiple European and Caribbean ITF events, and captured the 2024 Battle of Boca doubles title. A year ago he compiled a 12-3 ITA Summer Series record with titles at Wake Forest and UNC Charlotte. He earned a spot at the ITA Summer National Championships, advancing to the second round. His career high UTR is 11.10.
A redshirt at MSU in 2025, Diallo joined the team in January from Bucknell. Originally from Miramar, Florida. As a five-star recruit and the No. 18-ranked recruit in his class, he is the highest-ranked American player to ever join the Bobcat program. Diallo captured three straight district titles for Everglades High School, reaching a national ranking of No. 61 on the U.S. junior circuit while breaking into the overall top 75. He posted a 4-0 singles record and 3-1 doubles mark while representing the U.S. in the U16 ITF World Junior Tennis competition against Canada.
"We are really excited about where our program is heading with the addition of these three players," Ceolin said. "All of them will bring a lot of value to our program and we can't wait to start working with them in the fall."
