Cats Travel to Oregon State for ASICS Invitational

The Montana State volleyball team, fresh off its 3-0 record at the Gonzaga Invitational over the weekend, continues road play at the Oregon State ASICS Invitational this weekend in Corvallis, Ore.

The Montana State volleyball team, fresh off its 3-0 record at the Gonzaga Invitational over the weekend, continues road play at the Oregon State ASICS Invitational this weekend in Corvallis, Ore. The Bobcats open play against the Beavers, Thursday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. (MT). The match will stream live on ESPN+. MSU faces UNLV, Friday, Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. (MT), before closing our tournament play with UC Irvine, Saturday, Sept. 13 at noon. All matches will be played in OSU's historic Gill Coliseum.
CATS CAPTURE GONZAGA INVITATIONAL TITLE:
Montana State went 3-0 at the Gonzaga Invitational over the weekend. The Cats opened action with a 25-23, 25-19, 23-25, 16-25, 16-14 win over Maryland Eastern Shore. Senior Camryn Greenwald led MSU with a career-high 17 kills. On Friday, Montana State got a reverse sweep 22-25, 24-26, 25-23, 25-20, 15-8 victory over Cal State Bakersfield, as freshman Elli Tufto led the Cats with a team-best 15 kills. Montana State won the GU Invitational title with a 27-25, 25-23, 25-21 win over Gonzaga. Tufto again led the Bobcats with a team-high 11 kills.
GREENWALD, HEIDEMANN, LINDSETH NAME GU INVITE ALL-TOURNEY:
Three Bobcats were named to the Gonzaga Invitational All-Tournament team. Camryn Greenwald, Karli Heidemann, and Lauren Lindseth paced MSU to a 3-0 mark on the weekend. Greenwald led the Bobcats in hitting with a .426 attack mark, committing just seven errors on 47 swings, and totaling 27 kills. Greenwald had a career-high 17 kills in MSU's win over Maryland Eastern Shore. In addition, she chipped in seven aces and had seven blocks. Heidemann averaged a team-best 3.00 kills per set over the three matches. She hit .211 from the field and added 19 digs (1.46 dps) and five blocks. Lindseth led the Cats in the backrow notching 52 digs (4.00 dps). The Great Falls product also added eight assists and seven aces.
MOVIN' ON UP:
Senior libero Lauren Lindseth moved into third on MSU's all-time career digs chart with 52 saves last weekend. Lindseth's career total stands at 1,593 digs.

- Senior libero Lauren Lindseth was named to the Gonzaga Invite All-Tournament team after averaging 4.00 digs per set. The CMR graduate also chipped in seven aces and added eight assists. On the season, Lindseth is averaging 4.79 digs per set, which is tops in the Big Sky Conference and ranks 26th in the nation. Lindseth's current total of 115 digs ranks 29th in the country. last weekend, Lindseth also made two jumps up the Montana State all-time career digs list. The product of Great Falls ranks third in Bobcat history with 1,592 career digs, trailing Allyssa Rizzo (2,122) and Kandice Kelly (1,720).
- Sophomore outside hitter Karli Heidemann paced the Bobcats last weekend averaging a team-best 3.00 kills per set. She is currently averaging 3.17 kps, which ranks sixth in the Big Sky Conference. In all, Heidemann totaled 39 kills over the weekend, including 16 in MSU's five-set win over the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
- Senior middle blocker Camryn Greenwald had an efficient weekend of play at Gonzaga hitting a team-high .426 from the field. Greenwald, who averaged 2.08 kills per set, had 27 kills, seven errors on 47 swings. The Woodbury, Minn., product recorded a career-high 17 kills in MSU's win over Maryland Eastern Shore.
- Junior Joelie Spelts was MSU's top blocker at the Gonzaga Invite. The Gillette, Wyo., product averaged 1.31 blocks per set, which included seven blocks in MSU's five-set victory over Cal State Bakersfield. On the season, Spelts is averaging 1.00 bps, which is eighth best in the Big Sky Conference.
- True-freshman Elli Tufto had a breakout weekend for the Cats at the Gonzaga Invitational. The native of Prior Lake, Minn., averaged 2.58 kills per set. Tufto recorded back-to-back double figure kill matches with 15 against Cal State Bakerfield and 11 against Gonzaga.
- True-freshman setter Maggie Rhew came off the bench against Gonzaga and led the team to the sweep, dishing out 13 assists in one and a half sets.
- Third-year head coach Matt Houk used 14 players at the Gonzaga Invite, including seven freshmen. Two freshmen - Elli Tufto and Nicolette Noble - played in all 13 sets.
