Big Finish Boosts Bobcat Ski Team Into Third Place at Utah Invitaitonal

(Feb. 24, 2026) – Two Montana State women skiers finished in the top four of the slalom competition and three men finished in the top 12, boosting Montana State to a third-place finish at the 2026 Utah Invitational on Tuesday.
MSU scored the second-most alpine points in the women's competition and finished fourth in the Nordic men's and women's competition to jump into past Denver into third place. The Bobcats' 270 Alpine combined men's and women's Alpine points was third-most, just one behind Utah.
Justine LaMontagne finished second on two runs with a time of 1:31.35, while Tea Kiesel's 1:32.07 was good for fourth place. Lily Sewell also scored points for the Bobcats, finishing 15th (1:33.81). Zoe Gray finished 19th (1:35.29) and Solveig Groenningsaeter finished 25th (1:39.38). Victoria Clancy did not finish the first run.
Bosse Mikelsson finished eighth on two runs Tuesday, posting a combined mark of 1:33.26, while Will Steed finished one spot behind with a 1:33.30. Gianluca Boehm finished 12th (1:33.47), Loic Spiegelberg's 1:33.93 was good for 20th, and Torius Hepsoee placed 22nd (1:34.12). Ian Haupt completed run one in 48.60. Caleb Unger and Luc Dalton did not finish the first run.
For her performance, LaMontagne was named Women's Alpine Skier of the Meet. It is the first such honor of the season for the senior from Mont Sainte-Anne, Quebec, Canada.
The Bobcats resume competition this week, hosting the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Skiing Association (RMISA) Championships. The Alpine competition will be held at Bridger Bowl Feb. 26-28, with dates and times for the slalom and giant slalom to be determined, and will also feature an additional day of qualifying competition. The Nordic races begin on Friday, Feb. 27, with the 7.5K Classic (individual start) beginning at 9 am. The 20K Freestyle (mass start) begins at 9 am on Saturday, Feb. 28.
