CATS IN CAMP DAY #11: Bobcats Continue to Install Offensive, Defensive Schemes

MSU points toward preseason camp's major scrimmage on Saturday
After a year unlike any other in Montana State football history, the Bobcats prepare for the 2026 season beginning with the first preseason practice on July 30 and culminating with the season opener at Utah Tech on August 29.
THE STRAIGHT SKINNY: Montana State practiced in Bobcat Stadium on Tuesday morning, continuing work on installing the team's offensive and defensive schemes.
"We'll be committed to our installation through this week's scrimmage on Saturday, so there will be no look-ahead leading up to the scrimmage," said MSU head coach Brent Vigen. "Ideally, what we see on Saturday is our guys working within our schemes against our schemes to the best of their ability."
While next week's work continues as preseason camp, Vigen said the team begins to transition into game mode after this Saturday's scrimmage. "We'll turn the page in the next week, have a little bit of crossover, meaning good-on-good (early next week). Then we'll integrate scout (team) work and be fully go on Utah Tech on Wednesday. That will give us a 10-day lead into that game."
MSU's scrimmage on Saturday is closed to the public. The Bobcats open the 2026 season at Utah Tech on August 29 at 8 pm.
