Montana State continues to come close, but the Bobcats dropped a contested three-set match to Idaho on Thursday in Bozeman.
The Vandals earned a 25-19, 25-21, 25-21 victory over a Bobcat team whose effort pleased its head coach. "I couldn't be more proud of how the team competed," said MSU mentor Kyle Weindel. "Idaho was my pick before the season to win the league and it is a very talented team. We competed very well."
Natalee Godfrey led the Bobcats with a dozen kills and a .421 hitting percentage. Katie Harrington dealt 36 assists, while Kennadie Clute and Kasey Schlatter each recorded 10 digs. Alyssa Schultz and Ali Forde each had 10 kills for the Vandals.
Weindel appreciates that his squad continues to compete. "We're points away from getting over the hump in sets and in matches," Weindel said.
Montana State falls to 4-19 overall, 1-10 in Big Sky play, while the Vandals are 12-11, 8-3. The Bobcats host Eastern Washington on Saturday at 7 pm in Shroyer Gym.
