Bobcat Spikers Back on Big Sky Road

The Montana State volleyball squad takes its final out-of-state road trip this week as it travels to the University of North Dakota and the University of Northern Colorado.
BOBCAT SPIKERS HEAD OUT ON BIG SKY ROAD:
The Montana State volleyball squad takes its final out-of-state road trip this week as it travels to the University of North Dakota and the University of Northern Colorado. MSU's first stop will be in Grand Forks on Thursday, Nov. 6, where it will face UND at 6 p.m. (MST) in the Betty Englestad Center. The match is slated to be televised on FOX Sports North PLUS/FOX College Sports Atlantic. Following its contest on the high plains, the Bobcats will travel to Greeley, Colorado to face UNC on Saturday, Nov. 8 in Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion at 7 p.m.
'CAT CHAT:
The Bobcats snapped a six-match losing streak with a hard-fought 21-25, 27-25, 21-25, 26-24, 15-10 win over Eastern Washington last Saturday. MSU had three players in double-figures kills, including Kennadie Clute 19, Natalee Godfrey 16 and Eli Svisco 12. In double-digit digs were Kasey Schlatter 17, Clute 13, Katie Harrington 12 and Svisco 11.
SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA & THE BEARS:
North Dakota (21-8, 9-3) North Dakota is 6th in the NCAA in total blocks with 274.5...UND's 2.61 blocks per set average is 2nd in the Big Sky and is 31st in NCAA...Faith Dooley's block total is 6th in NCAA Division I and her per set average is 36th...Dooley is second in the league in blocks with 1.32 per set...Nikki Husfeldt has 1,006 assists this season, 35th-most among NCAA D-I players...McKenzie Hart is second in the league in digs, 56th in NCAA...North Dakota is 4-0 in five-set matches...UND clinches a berth in the Big Sky tourney with a win or losses by EWU, Portland State and SUU...Northern Colorado (15-9, 8-4) will host Montana on Thursday, before facing the Bobcats....The Bears split their matches winning at Portland State in a sweep and falling to North Dakota in four sets, last weekend...Andrea Spaustat had a solid weekend leading the Bears with 24 kills...Senior middle blocker Brianna Strong had another strong weekend with 19 kills and nine total blocks...Meagan Garcia recorded her second and third straight match recording 20 digs, 20 vs PSU; 25 vs UND.

Freshman Jolie Meade, a native of Rocklin, California, is second on the Bobcat squad hitting .293 from the field. Meade has been ranked among the top 125 hitters in the nation in terms of attack percentage and has been ranked among the top 15 freshmen in the category, as well...In Big Sky Conference action, Kennadie Clute is ranked fourth in the league, averaging 3.74 kills per set and is sixth in points at 3.94 pps...Natalee Godfrey ranks second in Big Sky hitting percentage at .379...setter Katie Harrington is fifth in the league averaging 10.82 assists per set...libero Kasey Schlatter is fifth in the Big Sky at 4.38 dpg.
NOTICING NATALEE:
Junior middle blocker Natalee Godfrey has bounced back nicely from an early season injury to post an outstanding October, to date. In fact, Godfrey has only committed 23 hitting errors in her last 180 swings. For the month of October, the Eugene, Oregon product is averaging 2.89 kills per set, while hitting a whopping .401 from the field. Godfrey had a season-high 16 kills against Eastern Washington on Saturday.
KILLING IT:
For the month of October, sophomore Kennadie Clute has led MSU with 103 kills, averaging 3.81 per set.
DIGGING IT:
Kasey Schlatter is first on the team averaging 4.04 digs per contest. The Canby, Oregon native has totaled 335 saves this fall, including being in double-digit digs in 20 of MSU's 24 matches. Schlatter posted a career-high 36 saves against Canisius on Sept. 5. That mark was two shy of the all-time Bobcat record of 38 held by Kandice Kelly and Meghan Albiston. For her career, Schlatter has logged 999 digs, which is eigth on the all-time Montana State digs list.
