“That was our best defensive effort of the season and I couldn’t be any prouder of the effort our kids gave us,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “Our defense helped setup what we wanted offensively, and I felt we distributed the ball very well.”
Montana State junior Peyton Ferris came off the bench to post a game-high 18 points, while hauling down ten rebounds for her second straight double-double as the Bobcats cruised to an 81-55 win over Evansville in the first game of the ShareSLO Holiday Tournament.
Montana State used a smothering defense in the opening quarter as the Purple Aces went without a basket for the first 10-minutes of the game. Montana State (4-1) owned a 19-4 advantage after the opening stanza.
The Bobcats pushed the lead to 42-16 at intermission and cruised the rest of the game shooting 51 percent from the field, while dominating the boards out-rebounding Evansville 54-31.

MSU ended with a season-high 27 assists, led by a career-high 11 assists via sophomore Hannah Caudill.

"We've been very efficient on offense and getting good, quality looks at the basket," Binford said. "Our guards are doing a nice job getting us into the offense and making the extra pass."
Sara Dickey led Evansville with 13 points and the Bobcat defense limited the Purple Aces to just 28.6 percent from the field.
Montana State plays host Cal Poly on Saturday at 6 p.m. (MST).
