California Dreamin': Bobcats at Cal Poly Holiday Tourney

The Montana State women’s basketball team will travel to San Luis Obispo, Calif., this weekend to compete in the Cal Poly SharesSLO Holiday Tournament. The ninth annual event will begin on Friday, Nov. 27 as the Bobcats face Evansville at 6 p.m. (MST).

The Montana State women's basketball team will travel to San Luis Obispo, Calif., this weekend to compete in the Cal Poly SharesSLO Holiday Tournament. The ninth annual event will begin on Friday, Nov. 27 as the Bobcats face Evansville at 6 p.m. (MST). MSU will close out tournament play against Cal Poly on Saturday at 6 p.m. The fourth team competing this weekend is Santa Clara. All games will be played in Mott Athletics Center.
LOOKING BACK THE TUESDAY NIGHT:
San Diego used a 15-2 run in the final six-minutes to claim a 62-49 win over Montana State, Tuesday night snapping MSU's win streak at three games. The Bobcats opened the contest on fire, connecting on seven-of-nine attempts from the floor in the opening seven minutes. MSU opened up 20-14 lead after the first quarter. However, the Bobcats went cold in the second stanza hitting just two-of-ten shots as the Toreros entered intermission with a 32-27 advantage. San Diego, who entered the contest ranked No. 12 in this week's College Insider Mid-Major Top-25 poll, pushed its lead to 38-30 at the 4:10 mark of the third quarter. Montana State rallied with an 11-4 run, cutting the margin to 42-41 on a Lindsay Stockton layup in the waning moments of the period. The Bobcat rally was sparked by back-to-back three-pointers from Riley Nordgaard. With the scored tied at 47-all with 6:02 left, USD used a pair of three-pointers and a five-of-six effort from the free throw line down the stretch to secure the win. The Bobcats closed out the final six minutes going one-of-five from the floor, while committing four turnovers
HOMMES NAMED BIG SKY CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Montana State is 3-1 with wins over the WAC, Mountain West and the West Coast Conferences. One player who's contributed in each victory is Jasmine Hommes. For her performance against the University of Portland, Hommes is this week's Big Sky Player of the Week. Hommes scored 21 points, hauled down four rebounds and chipped in three assists as the Bobcats won their third consecutive game. The Lynden, Washington product connected on 10-of-13 from the field, including a three-pointer as MSU downed Portland 86-57 to remain undefeated. Hommes is second on the Bobcat squad in scoring, averaging 12.3 points, while shooting 45 percent from the field.
