Three-Point Barrage Lifts Bobcat Women to Win over Titans

“We had a great passing night and that really got the team going,” said MSU 11th year head coach Tricia Binford. “We were making the extra pass and we were knocking down shots in rhythm. We did a great job keeping our turnovers down.”
Montana State sophomore Delany Junkermier was mired in a one-of-ten shooting slump over the past three games entering Thursday's game.
That all changed as the Spokane product exploded for a career-high 18 points, including a seven-of-ten effort from the field and four 3-pointers, lifting the Bobcats to an 89-66 win over Cal State Fullerton in Worthington Arena.
The 6-foot guard missed her first three-pointer of the game, but followed that with a four-of-four effort from beyond the arc to give Montana State (5-2) a 27-17 advantage after the opening period.
The Bobcats built a 51-34 halftime cushion shooting 57 percent from the field and connecting on 10-of-18 from long distance. Aside from Junkermier's 12 first-half points, MSU reserve Peyton Ferris also produced a dozen points going five-of-five from the floor.

Montana State took its largest lead of the contest in the fourth quarter as a layup by freshman Annika Lai gave the Bobcats an 84-57 margin.
Ferris, a junior from Twin Bridges, finished with a game-high 19 points, going eight-of-nine from the field. Also in double-figures were Lindsay Stockton and Riley Nordgaard with 14 and 13 points respectively.
Sophomore Hannah Caudill came off the bench to dish out ten assists for her second double-digit assist game in the last three outings. Freshman Haley Blodgett also came off the bench and led MSU with three blocked shots, to go along with four rebounds.
For the game, MSU posted 25 assists, while committing 12 turnovers. The Bobcat defense forced Cal State Fullerton (2-6) into 18 miscues. Montana State also out-rounded the Titans 36-29. MSU was led under the glass by Alexa Dawkins with a team-high six rebounds.
The Bobcats shot 54 percent from the field and held Cal State Fullerton to 42 percent. MSU finished 12-of-26 from three-point territory.
The Titans were led by Michelle Berry with 19 points.
Montana State will travel to Spokane on Sunday to face Gonzaga at 3 p.m. (MST) in the McCarthey Athletic Center.
