
Bobcat Women Travel to Sacramento State and Portland State

FIRST ROAD TRIP OF THE YEAR: Montana State will make its first road trip of the Big Sky season this weekend, beginning Thursday, Jan, 7 against Sacramento State in The Nest at 8 p.m. (MST). The Bobcats will conclude play at Portland State on Saturday, Jan. 9 in the Stott Center starting at 3 p.m. (MST).

THE LAST TIME OUT:
An unexplainable funk followed by one of the best comeback victories gave Bobcat fans another reason to celebrate the New Year as MSU notched an 86-77 overtime win against Northern Arizona. The hump Binford referred was a 58-41 deficit with 8:42 remaining. MSU trailed by four points at intermission and NAU increased its lead to 15 points in the third quarter as the Bobcats opened missing 11 shots. A Peyton Ferris layup at 4:29 mark gave the Bobcats its first field-goal of the second half. NAU held a 53-41 advantage heading into the final period. The 'Jacks opened the final quarter with a three-pointer and a layup to take a 17-point lead. MSU responded with seven points, sparked by five points from Riley Nordgaard, and closed to within 58-48 with 8:08 remaining. NAU was able to fight off the Bobcat run and established a comfortable 66-51 advantage with 3:15 left. Lindsay Stockton ignited the Bobcat attack sinking a pair of free throws, before stripping the in-bounds pass and converting the layup to get Montana State within 11 points with 3:06 remaining. Nordgaard hit the first of her three triples in the final three-minutes to get MSU to within eight points. The 'Jacks went one-of-four from the line before Nordgaard connected on another 3-pointer to cut the margin to 68-63 with 1:33 left. MSU put NAU on the free throw line and converted one-of-two tosses, before Hannah Caudill sank a three-pointer from the top at the 1:07 mark to cut the deficit to three points.
BOBCAT PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Riley Nordgaard played a big role in MSU's two victories. On the weekend, the Minnesota product averaged 18.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, three steals and two assists per game. In addition, she shot 46 percent from the field and 54 percent from 3-point range. Against SUU, Nordgaard posted 17 points, nine rebounds and three steals. She also came up big for the Bobcats against NAU. Riley scored 18 points in the fourth quarter & overtime period. She finished with 20 points and ten rebounds.
