The Montana State women’s basketball team will complete its opening Big Sky Conference weekend hosting Northern Arizona on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Worthington Arena.

BIG SKY OPENERS: Montana State is now 16-14 all-time in Big Sky Conference openers. Head coach Tricia Binford is 6-7 in league openers during her time with the Blue and Gold. MSU has captured its last three BSC openers, defeating Southern Utah Thursday night and last winter, and Weber State in 2015.
ON A SERIES NOTE: Montana State owns a 43-21 advantage in its all-time series with Northern Arizona dating back to Jan. 14, 1988. Montana State has won the last three meeting between the two Big Sky foes, including an 86-69 decision last February in Bozeman. The Bobcats have won 12 of the last 13 meetings in the series. NAU's last victory was a 79-64 decision on Jan. 24, 2015 in Flagstaff.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME: The Cats have the nation's second longest home court win streak heading into this Thursday's game with Southern Utah. MSU's current 30-game home streak is second only to national power UConn (69). Montana State's last loss in Worthington Arena was a 62-49 loss to San Diego on Nov. 24, 2015.
THE NITTY GRITTY: According to the Dec. 17, 2017 NCAA Nitty-Gritty rankings, the Bobcats are currently ranked No. 124 in the country. The highest Big Sky Conference listing belongs to Northern Colorado at No. 55, followed by No. 81 North Dakota and No. 88 Idaho State. Ranked behind Montana State is No. 145 Portland State, No. No. 170 Weber State, 184 Sacramento State, No. 217 Idaho, No. 283 Eastern Washington, No. 308 Montana, No. 338 Southern Utah and No. 342 Northern Arizona. The Bobcats finished the 2016-17 season ranked No. 59 - its highest finish ever.
THE SCOUTING REPORT: Senior Kenna McDavis, who finished with 18 points and a career-high 15 rebounds, sent Thursday's Big Sky opener between Northern Arizona and Montana into overtime with 21-seconds left in the fourth quarter. The Lumberjacks ultimately fell 70-62. NAU dropped to 3-9 overall and 0-1 in Big Sky action. The 'Jacks led 50-29 with 3:39 left in the third quarter, but the Lady Griz stole the momentum with an 11-2 quarter finishing run to cut their deficit to a dozen. The home team rode the wave, and a crowd of 2,662, into the fourth and extra period. NAU received double-digit scoring from their three captains, with Olivia Lucero and Kaleigh Paplow contributing 15 and 14 points respectively behind McDavis' 18. Lucero also added seven assists and six rebounds, while Paplow had nine boards and five assists. NAU held UM to 31.6% shooting, in addition to holding the rebounding advantage at 49-43, but could not overcome 24 turnovers to just 10 by Montana.
