MSU stands in 16th place, Reali in 9th
Montana State senior Janelle Reali shot a three-over-par two-round total of 147 and stands tied for ninth at the Cowgirl Classic in Maricopa, Arizona.
Reali came out of the gates with a first round 76, then trimmed that score by five strokes in the second round. "Janelle had a very nice day," said Bobcat coach Brittany Basye. "She finished with a strong second round."
The Bobcats dropped to 16th in the team standings after shooting 315 in the afternoon. MSU fired a 307 in the first round which left the team in 11th.
Freshman Kelly Hooper and junior Jaylee Tait each filed one good round on the day, Hooper firing a 74 in the opening round and Tait a 77 inthe afternoon. "We didn't play consistently as a team, we missed some shots," Basye said. "Jaylee came back some in the second round and Kelly played well in the morning."
Aside from Reali, the team's lone senior, Basye looks for improved consistency during Friday's closing round. "This is a course that can sneak up on you if you're not prepared," she said. "We lost it a little mentally. We can't let .that happen Friday."
