Bobcats Sweep Utah Tech in Season Opener

“It was great a great start to the season,” said MSU head coach Suzie Woodburn, who is in her third year with the program. “We had some normal first day of the season dual match nerves, but we competed through it.”
Montana State captured the top two doubles spots to earn the first point of its match, en route to a 7-0 sweep of Utah Tech in the season opener at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Utah, Friday afternoon.
Montana State's (1-0) No. 1 tandem of Jojo Bach and Meg McCarty posted a 6-0 win over Utah Tech's (0-2) Mariana Zurita and Maya Inouye. Bach and McCarty entered the match ranked No. 75 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) fall rankings.
Senior Marta Garcia-Reboredo and sophomore Hudson Hawkins recorded a 6-2 win at No. 2 to give MSU the opening point as the Bobcats took two of three doubles matches.

The Bobcats won all six singles matches, including five in straight sets.
"We committed to our stye of tennis with great team vocal energy," Woodburn said. "We found a way to get every single singles point and set the tone for how we want to compete this season."
MSU's singles play was highlighted at the No. 1 spot where Garcia-Reboredo registered a 6-3, 7-6(2) win over Ana Sampere.
Montana State faces Utah on Saturday at 2 p.m.
"We're excited to face a top program like Utah," Woodburn said. "And we will be ready to battle."
