“We are ready to go,” said MSU head coach Suzie Woodburn.
A veteran Montana State women's tennis team will open its 2025 season on Friday at 4 p.m., against Utah Tech at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. The Bobcats close out the weekend, Saturday, at 2 p.m. against the Utes.
"We are ready to go," said MSU head coach Suzie Woodburn. "This week we have been working on our vocal energy and getting back into a match atmosphere. Having the opportunity to compete against Utah Tech and Utah is going to be a good start for us."
The Bobcats are led by senior Marta Garcia-Reboredo, a unanimous First Team All-Big Sky Conference selection in singles and doubles. Last spring, the product of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, led MSU to a 13-7 overall mark and its first appearance at the Big Sky Conference Tournament since the 2017 campaign.
She will be joined in the lineup by fellow seniors Andrea Cuquerella and Mia Ljubas. A trio of sophomores also return to the MSU ladder. All three made significant contributions last season. Hudson Hawkins combined with Garcia-Reboredo at No. 1 doubles, while Meg McCarty earned second-team all-league honors in singles, and Angel Bean, who notched nine wins in singles and doubles play.
"We have great senior leadership," Woodburn said. "This year is going to be about culture. We'll play off everyone's strengths to become the best team we can be, knowing that the team is bigger than ourselves."
Woodburn also welcomes a pair a graduate transfers in Jojo Bach and Kavya Khirwar.
Last season the Bobcats notched a 6-1 victory over Utah Tech, while dropping a 7-0 decision to Utah.
The Trailblazers went 6-16 overall and 0-7 in WAC play as they wrapped up their fourth and final season of transition to NCAA Division 1.
Utah returns four letterwinners from last season's squad that saw the Utes post a 12-10 overall mark and a 3-7 ledger in Pac-12 play.
