Bobcat juniors will compete as individuals in Omaha
BOZEMAN, Mont. --- Montana State junior golfers Elvira Flodström and Nadia Sanz Ouezzani will head to Omaha, Neb., for the Big O Classic on Monday and Tuesday.
Â
The 54-hole tournament, co-hosted by Creighton and Omaha, will take place at par-72, 6,076-yard Oak Hills Country Club, with 36 holes set to be played on Monday and the final 18 holes to take place on Tuesday. Both days of competition will begin at 8 a.m. MT, with Monday to open in a shotgun start and Tuesday to begin in a split-tee start off holes 1 and 10.
Â
"We're excited for Ellie and Nadia to have this opportunity to head to Nebraska and compete in Creighton's tournament," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "It's a great chance for both of them to get more competitive rounds under their belts and test their games against a solid field on a good golf course. We're fortunate to be able to provide these opportunities for our players, and I'm looking forward to watching them compete, gain experience, and finish their fall season strong."
Â
Flodström and Sanz Ouezzani will compete against golfers from eight other programs in Omaha. Those teams include Creighton, Omaha, Northern Iowa, North Dakota, Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M, Iowa Western Community College, and Indian Hills Community College.
Â
Flodström and Sanz Ouezzani return to action for the first time since competing at the Yellowstone Intercollegiate in Bozeman on Sept. 21-22. The Bobcat duo finished as the top individual competitors at the tournament, with Flodström finishing 6-over 222 (71-78-73) to tie for 11th place and Sanz Ouezzani posting a score of 8-over 224 (75-74-75) to tie for 16th overall. Both Bobcats are set for their third tournament of the season after opening their Montana State careers at the Branch Law Firm/McGuire Invitational on Sept. 14-15.
Â
Flodström and Sanz Ouezzani will both tee off from hole 10 in an 8 a.m. MT shotgun start to open the tournament on Monday. Flodström is paired with Iowa Western's Amelia Hogg and Indian Hills' Maddison Clarke, while Sanz Ouezzani is paired with Iowa Western's Lonsaei Lolo and North Dakota's Maddy Trapnell. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat.
