“With our day of travel on Friday and playing Wyoming on Thursday, I thought we did a great job in the second half,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “We found ways to get the win. We executed in the times we needed, too. It was a great job on the defensive end in the second half. That was a difference-maker.”
Montana State sophomore Oliana Squires posted a career-high 18 points, including a pair of three-pointers in the fourth quarter to lift the Bobcats to a 64-52 win over Utah State on Friday night as part of the Oregon State/Maui Jim Classic at War Memorial Gym.
Montana State (5-2) used a 7-0 run to finish out the third quarter, then opened the final frame with a 19-5 stretch sparked by three consecutive three-pointers, including two from Squires and one via Hannah Caudill to give the Bobcats a 56-40 advantage following a Madeline Smith layup with 3:36 left. It was MSU's largest lead of the game. Montana State closed out the game on a Tori Martell three-pointer.
