Montana State men's tennis is on the road in Utah this weekend for a pair of duals.
The Bobcats (2-4, 1-0 Big Sky) head to Provo on Saturday, Feb. 4 to take on the BYU Cougars. BYU is 2-3 on the year with their two wins coming over Big Sky opponents.
On Sunday, Jan. 5, the 'Cats square off in Salt Lake City against the University of Utah Utes. The Utes are 3-1 on the year with sweeps over both Idaho State and Weber State.
"We've been playing better and better, and the time in practice between weekend matches has been a great benefit," said Bobcats coach Jared Burnham. "This is a challenging weekend, but it's always fun to play top competition. This is all part of the process of improving."
Senior and Kalispell native Kellen Bates has been the primary No. 1 singles spot for the Cats, with a 2-4 match record overall. The top doubles tandem has featured Alexander Flink and Rok Sitar at 3-2 on the year.
But nothing is set in stone for the Cats.
"We'll look at some different lineup combinations this weekend, but right now I like the top seven," said Burnham. "As a team we're competing and improving, and at this time of year those are important things to accomplish."
